A study from the Harvard School of Public Health reported in the September 10, 2013 issue of the New England Journal of Medicine has confirmed the benefit of colonoscopy to significantly reduce deaths from colon cancer. The study showed that patients who underwent colonoscopy reduced their risk of dying from colon cancer by 68%. For comparison, studies have shown that mammograms decrease breast cancer deaths by 33%.
